Superman Rebootyness News

Okay, so the hype is already starting to kick into full gear surrounding the new Superman film titled "Man of Steel". With the set pics and first picture of Henry Cavill wearing the Superman costume, it has definitely gotten people talking. Even more so stems from the casting calls release giving a supposed synopsis of the film. Here is what the casting call in Vancouver detailed(not really at all) about the film:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Most people jumped the gun and immediately proclaimed, "We've seen this before". I'm thinking to myself "Did you read what was posted"? This synopsis gives almost nothing away at all. It is just background information at best. Nowhere is it mentioned of General Zod, Faora, or the military that have been casted. The 'what' is there but only vaguely. This is only a small part of the film and is likely a summarized backbone to the overall story. To me, it seems that Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan(especially) want to make Superman more relevant and relatable. Tell me Nolan didn't do this in the Batman films.

With the amount of talent involved and scope of this project it looks like WB and company really want to get this one right. Don't judge too soon, well, at least not until we get a trailer.
