So, in trying to forget about the turd I saw on Wednesday(Thanks, "Green Lantern") I thought I'd turn my attention to the Superman reboot. Before I do, know that "Superman Returns" as a movie was 'ok' but as a fan it was 'awful'. "Green Lantern" is a lot worse than "Superman Returns" and seems to be sort of a mixture between "Fantastic Four" and "Elektra".
Sorry. I had to get that out of my system. Anyways, so the cast for Zack Snyder's Superman film grew by one yesterday with the additional casting of Mr. Russell Crowe as Jor-El (Superman's real dad). So, all in all we have the following:
Henry Cavill ("Tudors", upcoming "Immortals") - Superman/Clark Kent
Amy Adams ("The Fighter", "Doubt") - Lois Lane
Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road", "Boardwalk Empire") - General Zod
Antje Traue ("Pandorum") - Faora (Krypton villain and ally to General Zod)
Kevin Costner ("Field of Dreams", "Dances with Wolves") - Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane ("Unfaithful", "Secretariat") - Martha Kent
Russell Crowe ("The Gladiator", "A Beautiful Mind") - Jor-El
Connie Nielsen ("The Gladiator", "The Devil's Advocate") - rumored for Lara(Superman's real mom)
I have to say this cast is quite amazing. They want to make a perfect Superman film and with Christopher Nolan producing and Zack Snyder directing, this could be the best Superman film since Richard Donner's in 1978. We must not forget that Superman must be modernized to be relevant and more importantly relatable. Specials effects should only complement the story.
